StampersBest DT Instructor, Cuchy, creates an ATC with layers and textures. The heart trim was embossed and the area around it was colored in. Take a circle or square punch and make a place for your favorite mini photo in the top corner.

Materials:
StampersBest Paint Spatter Background
StampersBest Greek Deco Floral Borders
Text stamp, rub-on, or embellishment of your choice
Versamark pad
Clear embossing powder
Glimmer mist
Watercolor paints
Circle punch
ATC size cardstock

1) Start stamping the Paint Spatter background with Versamark.

2) Pour clear embossing poser over the stamped image and heat emboss it.

3) Spray glimmer mist or spray paints and let it dry. The embossing acts as resist.

4) Stamp the Heart Border from Greek Decor Floral Borders with Versamark on a piece of watercolor paper or cardstock.

5) Pour clear embossing powders over the image and heat emboss.

6) Mist your watercolor paints with water.
7) Paint the hearts with watercolors. The embossed areas resist the colors.

8) Cut the hearts. Make a photo window with the circle punch and embellish it with the love ribbon you created in step 1.

Snowman Bookmarks

Our newest DT member, Marianne, has made these awesome paper clip bookmarks, using big clips and shrink plastic and some rubber stamps. Another great, handmade gift idea using the snowmen! Here's how she did it:

Supplies:

StampersBest Rubber Stamps:Snowman Hugs, Snowman's Best Friend, Snowman & Birdies, Snowman Caroling.

Other Supplies

Spellbinders Scallop Doily dieClear Shrink plastic, stamp block
StazOn ink in Jet Black
Bic Markers in desired colors
White polyester cord 1/16", cardstock scraps, label shape dies, Glossy Accents by Ranger, and foam pop dots, if desired.

Step 1: Die cut desired shape using Shrink Plastic. I used Spellbinders Scallop Circle Nestibilites, 4th largest. Using StazOn ink stamp Snowman image onto the Shrink Plastic. Color image as desired using Bic Markers, the finer the tip the better.

Step 2: Follow manufacturers directions when shrinking the plastic. I used my oven, you can do this using a heat gun if you have one. Allow them to cool completely.
2a: Lace the polyester cord through the scallops and tie a small bow at the bottom, if desired. Note: I found this tiny 1/16" cord in the curtain department at JoAnn's.

Step 3: Making the paper clip. You will need two label shaped pieces of cardstock, one for the front and one for the back. Using Glossy Accents adhere the paper clip to the back of one label shapes. Add a little extra to the inside and outside of the paper clip to assure the hold.

Step 4: Repeat adhereing label shape to the back of the paper clip, as done in step 3. This is what it will the paper clip will look like with the labels adhered.

Step 5: Now we are ready to adhere the stamped Shrink Plastic to the front label shape. Place a nice even coat of Glossy Accents onto the back of the stamped plastic piece, making sure you get some on the cord. Center it onto the front of the completed paper clip and press into place, making sure that the Glossy Accents fills the entire back surface of the plastic piece. You will need to hold it into place for a few seconds until it begins to set up and take hold. Set aside to dry and you have a new bookmark!

Cardinal Christmas 3-D Ornament

Archival Inks, Distress Inks, Ink Blending Tool, Liquid Pearls – Ranger Industries

Bic Markers

Niji Waterbrush

Cardstock – Georgia Pacific (white); Couture Cardstock

Acetate (recycled packaging)

Spellbinders Die (frame & poinsettia)

Sizzix Die (winter foliage)

Ribbon

Double Stick Foam Tape

Instructions:

1. Cut 3 graduated sizes of a single frame design alternating brown and white cardstock. I die-cut the two smaller sizes then hand cut the third frame in order for the cardinals to fit into the center opening.

2. Stamp the two brown frames with the Holly border and the white frame with the Floral Trumpet Background image. Color the holly berries with a red marker. Distress the edges of each frame with Distress Ink and the Ink Blending Tool.

3. Flip each frame over, measure and cut an acetate window for each frame. I used recycled acetate from product packaging.

4. Stamp Cardinals on white cardstock and color as desired. I used a mix of Distress Inks and Bic Markers. Trim both cardinals from the cardstock.

7. After each of your layers has been completed it’s time to assemble the ornament. Add double stick foam tape to the backs of the medium and small frames. Remove the liner tapes and mount the small to the medium and medium to the large frame.

5. Die-cut an assortment of poinsettia flowers and winter foliage. (Or stamp using the Poinsettia Rubber Stamp)

6. Begin adding elements to each layer of the ornament by layering as you go.

I started by adding a few bits of winter foliage to the largest frame. I then placed the medium sized frame over the largest frame and added the female Cardinal, half of a poinsettia flower and additional winter foliage. Finally I placed the smallest frame over the first two frames and added the male Cardinal, full poinsettia, holly leaves and more foliage.

8. Add finishing touches – a bit of Yellow Liquid Pearls to the center of the poinsettia and a ribbon hanger.

Altered Clocks Project

Couture Cardstock

1. Stamp the snowman on kraft colored cardstock using black Archival Ink.

2. Color the image using markers and white gel pen.

3. Use a die to cut out the snowman and a mat.

5. Use a marker to color in the holly berries and add tri-dots among the holly using a white gel pen.

6. Cut a tag from the kraft cardstock and stamp the sentiment. Use one end of the holly border stamp and stamp a holly sprig in each corner of the tag.

7. Mat the background paper on red and green cardstock; attach the snowman image and sentiment tag.

4. Create the background by repeatedly stamping the holly border on a sheet of kraft cardstock using green Archival Ink.

Core’dinations Cardstock

1. Cut a cream card panel to 4.75x 6.75”.

2. Stamp Heartland image in the upper left hand corner using Sepia Archival Ink. Ink the edges of the panel with Coffee Archival Ink. Adhere to a green mat.

3. Stamp the Turkey Shuffle Rubber Stamp on a scrap of the cream cardstock using Coffee Archival Ink.

4. Use Spellbinder dies to cut turkey and a cardstock mat. Adhere turkey to the mat.

5. Stamp the Autumn Leaf rubber stamp x3 on three colors of cardstock. Trim and distress the edges of each leaf using Coffee Archival Ink.

6. Arrange the leave images in desired pattern in the lower right hand corner of the card and adhere.

Your 5" x 7" card is complete!

Scrap Paper

1. Begin by stamping the yellow eyelet strip approximately 1.5” from the bottom. I start with the center color to ensure proper spacing for each of the remaining eyelet strips. Stamp off any excess ink on scrap paper and clean the stamp before moving onto the next color.

2. Stamp the orange and green eyelet on each side of the yellow eyelet; cleaning the stamp between uses.

3. Finally stamp the red and blue strips of eyelet rounding out the rainbow effect.

4. Stamp the sentiment above the vintage rainbow eyelet with the black ink.

5. Mount this panel to the yellow card base.

If you have not heard about her group, please visit their website: http://www.operationwritehome.org/. It's a not-for-profit, volunteer organization whose mission is to supply deployed American service members with blank handmade greeting cards to help them keep in touch with home. Anyone can volunteer & participate! In May 2011, they reached a major goal...One million cards have been sent since 2007. They have a facebook group, twitter updates, and from their home page you can find deadlines, guidelines and a whole bunch of how-to's.
